20th Century Fox did tinker around with the title – elongating it from the initial title – Rise Of The Apes, to the more obviously prequel indicative – Rise Of The Planet of The Apes. IMHO, they did not need worry about it at all. This is a movie which, although is a prequel tale of the revolution that we’ve witnessed already, but is in itself, a story, sufficient enough to stand on its own. And boy does it stand tall, and wide, and roar out loud – Noooooo!!! [Spoiler alert]. There’s plenty of moments to give you chills running down your spine; no, not with cheap Hollywood style thrills, but with genuine human emotions that even most human actors would fail to translate onto the big screen. There’s magic in those CGI eyes, there’s a brute force in that loud thump, and there’s pure brilliance throughout this movie. So much, that I can, without a single shade of doubt, pronounce it as the movie of the year (so far), or at least of the summer ( and that includes Super 8, Thor, Harry Potter and X-Men First Class ). There’s going to be a lot of praise on the other side of the jump. So, clearly avoiding that Tim Burton movie with Marky Mark, hit the jump to join the discussion.
And beware, there’s plenty of Spoilers.

The Amazing Spiderman has still got quite a while to be released. But for a franchise to be rebooted within just 5 years of its last release is a bit of a gamble for the production studio and everyone associated with the project. After all, what Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire collectively did (at least for the first 2 installments) with Stan Lee’s most famous creation, Spiderman, is nothing less than an amazing feat. From the initial teaser trailer released of the Amazing Spiderman, things look like a bit of the same stuff – Spidey swinging across the city, and with no mention of the evil dudes so far, there is indeed the lacking menacing feel which is quintissential to every superhero movie – (C’mon, that’s the whole reason why we go to watch a Superhero movie – see him/her kick the serious ass out of the bad and evil dude). But am I reading way too much into it? Should I just calm the fuck down, and let the movie decide for itself when it gets released? After all its just a teaser trailer. Anywho, here are my thoughts from what we see in the trailer.
After the jump, the teaser trailer and my thoughts.

Starting straight from where we left off last week, this week’s Torchwood episode – Rendition, focusses more on the medical side of things. And it helps that episode writer Doris Egan has House in his screenwriter filmography. So, this week’s episode could well be termed as Torchwood’s version of ER, spicened up with problem solving skills of House. There’s global level threats, threats to Torchwood, and a life-ending situation for the only mortal man on the planet – Captain Jack Harkness. Someone’s trying to set up Esther and Rex, and Oswald Danes comes much more close to the bigger picture. And then there’s an annoying PR lady pitching her pharmaceutical manufacturing company to Dr.Juarez and Danes. And not to forget, CIA chief Brian Friedkin who has a revolving triangle as his mobile phone screensaver. If Episode 1 kicked revealed the plot, the plot certainly thickens with this one. Russell T Davies’ perfect picture of a global scale misanthropy starts to take shape, and I couldn’t be more excited. As always, I will be discussing the main points about the episode. Needless to say, plenty of spoilers from the episode, but after the jump.

After the bootleg version did the rounds on the web, the official and visually clearer version of the Dark Knight Rises trailer has finally landed. And by all means, it is epic. The Dark Knight is three years old now (hard to believe, I know), and its run at the theatres gathered a lot of Box Office moola for Warner Bros. as well garnered highly favourable reviews from the critics. It literally set the standard for future superhero movies. The Dark Knight Rises, the third installment in the Nolan Batman trilogy, has definitely some big shoes to fill into, but we surely believe that Nolan’s conclusive chapter will be a bigger epic that will rightfully conclude this epic story arc. And by the looks of the trailer, I am left gasping with excitement and acute anxiousness. Here are a few thoughts on the minute and a half trailer of The Dark Knight Rises.
From Begins to Rises:

There are a lot of flashback scenes in the teaser which indicate that this is concluding chapter in the story arc. There are visuals of Bruce Wayne climbing out of the well in the grounds of Wayne Manor. There’s also some visuals of Bruce walking up the hill in the camp where he learned martial arts from Ra’s Al Ghul. Ra’s Al Ghul’s dialogue is reused in the trailer, and it somehow supports the online rumour that Ra’s daughter Talia, and the League of Shadows will feature in this movie.
The discussion continues after the jump. Also after the jump, is the awesome trailer in glorious HD.
