The Oscar Nominations were announced this morning in Hollywood. The Oscars ceremony has been in the news for all the wrong reasons, with director Brett Ratner and host Eddie Murphy quitting. But all’s well now, as we will see Billy Crystal hosting the awards show after a long gap. It will surely be a good show nonetheless, when the show airs from the Kodak theatre on Feb 23. Until then, have a look at the full list of nominees, and our take on it. We have serious issues with some inclusions, and more so, with some obvious exclusions. Go on, hit the jump!

Like every other year, the awards that precede the Oscars lead to much predictions. But all those awards lead to the Oscars – this is where stuff gets real. And we are discussing the Best Director.
Darren Aronofsky – The Black Swan.
Ethan Coen, Joel Coen – True Grit
David Fincher – The Social Network
Tom Hooper – The King’s Speech
David O. Russell – The Fighter
That is the nomination list for this year. And I am gutted to not see Christopher Nolan on the list. There is no denying to the fact that Inception was one of the most original, most entertaining and magnificent piece of cinema that came out last year ( or some might debate in a very very long time ). But then, that’s just me, and the Academy wouldn’t listen to me.
Who are we betting on: David Fincher – The Social Network.
Here’s what statistics say: A complete list of accolades won by The Social Network

As for David Fincher, he has already won the Golden Globes, Direcotr’s Guild, BAFTA and the list is pretty much endless. The statistics do support him, and from that list I would certainly want him to win. Along with Aaron Sorkin, Fincher has effectively and quite magically transformed a story of a business plan into something of the magnitude of a nail-biting action movie. He helped transform Mark Zuckerberg from being a nerd to a super human being , and in the process, has actually left a glowing inspiration to many (budding) entrepreneurs. That’s the power of cinema right there.
