An interesting question struck me while I was reading Lee’s post on the debacle that was G-Force. The question is – which of your favourite cartoons from your childhood should be made into a kickass awesome CGI film? The answer is very clear to me – He-Man. Now, the He-Man movie that was supposed to launch Dolph Lundgren as the 80s action superstar never really took off. Even watching as a child, as much as I enjoyed He-Man and Skeletor battle it out in ‘flesh’ and make-up, I knew it, that it did very little justice to the awesome source – the cartoon series. The redone, new age cartoon series of recent years have also been utterly disappointing to say the least. Recent updates have been that Sony is drafting a new script for a live action film. I am wondering why go down the live-action route when a CGI version can do wonders for this movie. And here’s my 5 reasons why.

Horrendous Make Up:
Make up vs CGI- I know right, RIGHT? This one argument should be enough to convince the filmmakers to go the CGI route. Skeletor’s face can now be all-CGI or part CGI to totally do away with the horrendous make up and yet make it absolutely menacing. But won’t it be just better to have Skeletor as all CGI. Now I know you old school fans who can put forward the argument that we no longer live in a ‘Back To The Future era’. But even with the latest enhancement in make-up [I am referencing Curious Case of Benjamin Button], won’t it only make things a bit more on the funny side, rather than what Skeletor’s army demands for – scary and evil beasts viz. Beast Man, Triklops, Merman et al. If you are not convinced enough, take a peak at this too.
