9E3K-TOP-5-TV-SERIES

We continue the list trend with the best 5 TV series of 2011. I have been watching a lot of TV this year. Mostly sitcoms such as Parks and Recreation, and How I Met Your Mother. But there is nothing really as great as genre television done absolutely well. True Blood started well for me, but the last few series have been a bit of chore for me to follow. And then there’s the surge of shitty telly that is showered upon us. Falling Skies was a bit too boring for me to follow, Terra Nova was trying to mashup Twilight with Avatar, and I gave up on The Event after episode 2.

So, it is indeed, with great relief, that I have been able to manage this complete list of 5 awesome TV series in 2011. They aren’t flawless – far from it. But it did bring a whole lot of excitement back into our living room. So, here it is people, presenting -

Doctor Who Series 6b: Prequel, Speculations, Rumours

by Sujoy on August 26, 2011

Just to make it clear to people who are not aware of the naming convention; since BBC decided to air Series 6 of Doctor Who with a break inserted in between, hence dividing it into two halves, we’ve conveniently named the two parts as Series 6a and 6b.

Now, we’ve already discussed all the major points of what happened in Series 6a. And with just a day left for the new episode of 6b to be aired, let’s discuss the revelations and hints from the prequel video and the online trailers. There are lots of theories boiling in my head, so here we go.

#1) The Prequel Video - Let’s Kill Hitler : [ Watch it Here ]

Doctor Who - The Doctor in the Tardis

The prequel video is just about 2 minutes long, and despite being a very short video, it gets many things right. It’s simple, yet moving and even manages to sneak in a few laughs. So, we hear Amy Pond leaving the Doctor a message on the Tardis phone asking the Doctor if he has been able to find her daughter – Melody. Now she knows she’s fine, and that she grows up to be River, but her motherly instincts do not want her to lose all the years of seeing Melody grow up. Now, I know its Doctor Who, so Matt Smith plays the whole answer phone gag to its fullest potential, replete with words like – BRAKESSS!!! :) And I can’t help my wide grin! But then, the mood changes starkly when it is revealed that the Doctor is consciously not receiving the call from Amy, and he’s been listening to it all the time. He looks disappointed, and lost. Could mean, that even though he promised Amy that he knew where to look for Melody (A Good Man Goes to War), he actually does not have a clue. Either that, or he knows something about Melody which is making him sad.

Also noteworthy are the wide shots of  The Tardis and the lighting department, who’ve done a brilliant job. And of course, the music being played here is – Can I Come With You, which was originally played when young Amelia was packing her bags ( in Series 5, Episode 1 – The Eleventh Hour ). And even though it has been a series and a half, Amelia Pond is still waiting. Poor girl! Well, we’ll get to find out the other parts of the concealed picture very soon.

Hit the jump for the specualtions and rumours that can be deduced from the trailer of Series 6b.
