Drawing100 – 35. Holy My Hand

Yes, today’s post is a bit of a late one. I have been bombarded with stuff. I got a new tablet, which had the wrong hardware spec. So I was ..urgghhh. Nevermind. Hold My Hand – the first thought that came to my head was – Terminator telling Sarah Connor to hold his hand. Y’know, in that prison corridor scene. But I ruled against it. And that is because of the influence of the recent announcement of the Man of Steel sequel at SDCC 2013. Zack Snyder announced that Batman is joining Superman in the next MOS movie. So, today’s sketch is a bit influenced by that. It was a bright summer afternoon, and Superman had  hired a photographer specifically to put himself in God’s shoes.

Batman on the other hand isn’t impressed at all.

I messed up the inking on Batman a bit, and then one thing led to another, and before I even realised, all his fingers were gone. Sorry about that. I could clean it on Photoshop, but I’m just too tired.

Drawing100 – 32. Night

If you remember, for my day 4 topic on the #Draw100 – which was Dark, I chose an image of young Bruce Wayne, in that dark alley of Gotham City, next to his dead parents. That stark image of young Bruce Wayne from Batman Year One has now become an integral part of superhero lore. Coming back to today’s topic – Night, I have yet again gone back to Gotham. And yet again, it is another iconic image created by Frank Miller. Ladies and gentlemen, The Dark Knight Returns.

Night - Dark Knight Returns

I am very much chuffed with the final result. It might just be my best sketch to date. It is minimal, and in true Frank Miller style, white on black, very Sin City-esque.

Technique: For this sketch, I drew the white outline, and coloured the background black digitally. I have attached the white outline image after the jump.

Hope you liked this one. Kindly leave your comments below.

Drawing100 – 12. Insanity

Today’s topic is Insanity. I have done the Joker sketch before, so I thought I’d fiddle around with the idea a bit. And I came up with this mashup of two of the most insane onscreen characters –

Alex from A Clockwork Orange, and of course, the Joker from The Dark Knight.

Insanity - Clockwork Joker

I call it – The Clockwork Joker

I had to resort to colouring it on Photoshop, as my black sketch pen ran out of juice. Also it looks much cleaner. But I can’t keep noticing that Alex’s left eye looks a bit derpy 😛

What do you think of it? I’m overall, very pleased about it.

Drawing100 – 4.Dark

Day 4, and I am still here. Only if I had the same sort of loyalty with the gym. Coming back to #Draw100, the topic today is Dark. A lot of ideas related to noir movies came to my mind. And of course, Sin City. But I knew exactly what I wanted to do for this topic.

Presenting the iconic image of young Bruce Wayne, as seen in Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli’s Batman Year One (and later in Nolan’s Batman Begins).

Dark - Batman Year One

My sketch pen acts funny sometimes. The black turns grey suddenly, and then I have to compensate for it in Photoshop. Leave your thoughts in the comments section below.
