HD-licious is a new section to spread the HD Love. Of late, I have collected quite a lot of HD resources which I want to share with everyone. This section will have a lot of visual show-off of the High Definition kind.
In 2002, a little known film directed by Kurt Wimmer [ who had previously directed Sphere and the Pierce Brosnan starrer Thomas Crown Affair ] surfaced. It was called Equilibrium. It came, didn’t see much of the light of the day, critics panned it, and it evaporated in thin air. It did not make much at box office either. But we at 9e3k believe that Equilibrium was one awesome sci-fi movie. And it certainly has one of the most ass kicking openings ever.
And so get ready for your brains to be blown away with the HD-awesomeness of the opening scene of Equilibrium.
Premise: Set in a futuristic dystopian society in a city called Libria – post 3rd World War, mankind tries to understand the cause of war. And in an effort to eradicate all causes of war, realises that it is human emotion which causes all the hatred and war. Hence, any emotionally stimulating material [ paintings, music, movies ] was banned, and rated EC -10, and were destroyed on discovery. Humans are drugged by a suppressing drug called ‘Prozium’ which is distributed at centers called ‘Equilibrium’.
The EC-10 rated stuff are destroyed by the governing body of Libria called Tetragammatron Council, which trains Grammatron clerics for the purpose. Our protagonist John Preston [ Christian Bale ] is one such cleric.
The opening scene builds up to the discovery of one such place where emotionally stimulating substance is reported. And Mr. John Preston is called on duty to eliminate. What happens next is for you to see.

If that reminds you of Matrix or the Punisher somehow, just relax and watch what unveils next. Words cannot do much justice to describe the awesomeness of this scene. It is a dark room where John Preston enters. This room is filled with armed people who hold the custody of rated EC-10 stuff. And John Preston’s mission – elimination.
He’s not Bruce Wayne, he’s not John Connor. He’s John Preston and he’s kicking ass. All throughout this scene, what you get to see is flashes of firing, and people being knocked off.
Just another indicator of how awesome this looks from another angle.
