GIF Mania: Golden Globes 2011 round up

So there was the glitterati and the who’s who of Hollywood at the Golden Globes this year (like every other year). There has been a lot of controversy over how host Ricky Gervais took unfair advantage of his position and pulled some nasty jokes at the expense of people who were actually in the audience. Worse, he introduced the presenters with some crude lines. Introducing Ashton Kutcher’s dad – Bruce Willis! And RDJ was reminded of his failures before Iron Man rescued him, and even the Hollywood Press (the organising body) weren’t spared. And whilst there is speculation over Gervais not returning next year as the host, frankly who gives a toss. At least it was entertaining to watch. And I’m sure, Gervais didn’t give a single fuck about it.

Ricky Gervais - Golden Globe 2011

Here’s a round up of the awards night. I’ll try to be as short as possible. Of course, there’s going to be loads of GIF as the title suggests.

Quorra, I mean Olivia Wilde was the highlight of the red carpet. Check out those shiney shoes.

The sad bit first – Inception didn’t win any awards. Neither did 127 hours. My favourite TV show Modern Family didn’t win either. But the saddest part was that Burlesque went home with a win. #FAIL.

Jim Parsons aka Sheldon won in his category – Best Supporting Actor in Musical/Comedy TV series. Bless Penny. Her reaction was so precious.

The biggest winner of the night was unsurprisingly – The Social Network. Winner for Best Film(Drama), Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Original Score. It was cool to see Trent Reznor dressed up in a tux.

The strongly predicted winners all fell in place.

Best Actor / Drama – Colin Firth (King’s Speech)

Colin Firth - Best Actor - Kings Speech

Best Actress / Drama – Natalie Portman (Black Swan)

Natalie Portman - Golden Globe

Best Animated Feature – Toy Story 3

But one of the biggest memes of 2011 has been created already.

Introducing Christian Bale as Jesus.

He did win the Best Supporting Actor for The Fighter.

Glee was the biggest TV win at the Golden Globes. And Chris Colfer gave a heartfelt winning speech.

And finally, RDJ was everywhere.

RDJ flirts with Emma Stone

But yeah, host Gervais is going to get this treatment from Hollywood I presume.

That’s all!

  1. Dude – these are great – but can we get one of Angelina Jolie adjusting Brad Pitt’s tie? That was the best.
