It has been a while since we did this poster mania thingie. Just a quick one this time around. There have been a lot of awesome Movie posters making waves all across, but as usual, only a very selected few manage to make it to the 9E3K page. That’s life!
First up: Conviction
Starring Hilary Swank and Sam Rockwell, based on a true story. The trailer reveals pretty much everything about the plot, but this one is surely going to be drama at its best. Directed by Tony Goldwyn, Conviction releases on 15 October, 2010 in the US.
P.S. The poster is a bit dull. Hope the movie isn’t.
Hit the jump for 6 more awesome posters.
Beastly:
This one releases March 2011. Beastly is a sort of a cross between the Frog Prince and Beauty and the Beast with a teenage twist (I hope you know what I mean). Story goes – Dude is handsome and mean. Dude picks on Goth girl in class, faces curse, and to get out of it, has to score with someone who’ll love him for who he is – an after curse fugly dude. That’s what the poster says innit! The tagline btw is really tacky.
Inside Job:
One of the most critically praised documentaries of the year, this poster spells out what this movie is all about. A man standing on a huge pile of money. The tagline goes – The film that cost over 20 trillion $ to make. This documentary shows extensive research and interviews with major financial insiders, politicians and journalists telling the inside story of the global economic meltdown that resulted in millions of people losing their homes and jobs. Narrated by Matt Damon, this one is the must watch documentary of the year. It releases on October the 8th, 2010 in the US.
Let Me In:
This time around it’s a French one. Unlike the previously released teaser posters where none of the characters faces have been shown, this French poster of Let Me In, shows Chloe Moretz in her complete Vampire avatar – yes, with the eyes, and blood trickling down her lips. Freaky stuff. Directed by Matt Reeves (of Cloverfield fame), this will definitely be a must-watch. That’s for sure!
Burlesque:
Not sure if I consider this as my type of movie. Maybe after a bottle and a half of Merlot. But a pretty good job done by the graphic designer juxtaposing Cher with Christina Aguilera. And also kudos for keeping it strictly limited to three colours – Black, White and Pink. Not sure if I am gonna watch this one, but I certainly like the poster.
The Next Three Days:
The next Russell Crowe movie – starring Liam Neeson, Elizabeth Banks and directed by Paul Haggis. The poster reminds of Inception. I guess, its the sort of Mosaic effect given to the poster. It is nevertheless a good poster. There are no trailers yet, but the synopsis reveals that this is going to be “Husband-loves-Wife-too-much” meets Prison Break. Sure Maximus will pull it off.
And finally, Tron Legacy.
Any damn material released from Disney about this movie is buzz worthy. And this new one comes to us from Japan.
There you go. Did you have a blast? You’re so spoilt, aren’t you, with all these poster awesomeness.

I don’t know where you’re based, but I just wanted to point out that the trailer for THE NEXT THREE DAYS is indeed out and has been for some time now. I’m sure you can find it on Youtube easy enough.
On a related note, I can’t stress how freakin’ excited I am for the movie. I’m already a huge fan of Russell Crowe and I love the Hitchcockian “innocent man” story which seems to be especially well done here.
Still need to look up the trailer for CONVICTION. Haven’t heard about it until here, but the name Sam Rockwell always is a good sign.
Cool TRON poster. I like the Japanese version of the logo.

Oh yeah, I didn’t see that. The trailer is very intriguing indeed. I am based in London btw.
I am excited about the movie as well.
As for conviction, Hillary Swank and Sam Rockwell are very good actors, and I am sure, this will be a hard hitting drama.

I really hate that Beastly poster. It does not make me want to see that film at all because I really don’t think it conveys any of the story concept. Beauty and the Beast could get away with it because it already has brand recognition which whilst this is a spin off of that I wouldn’t have made the connection without reading your synopsis.
Photoshop rush jobs never impress me in posters anyway

Yes, that poster is quite bad. I think studios and their marketing departments don’t care enough anymore about movie posters looking like really shit.
I don’t think I’ll be watching Beastly anyway
