15 GIFs from The Avengers - Thor, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Hulk, Captain America, Iron Man. Marvel Comics. Directed by Joss Whedon

When Marvel initially announced its intentions to bring its list of superheroes under one onscreen umbrella, my cynical side went straight ahead to dismiss it as an overambitious goof-up, which would sink to the ocean bed. But with each instalment of the single entities creeping out of the shadow, and as the Avengers ensemble started taking shape, my anticipation level has been on a constant rise. With Iron Man, Captain America and Thor’s individual story line having smashed the box-office, it was evident that the collective Avengers movie would be nothing less than an awesome feast of Superhero valour in different flavours – from cocky casanova, to angry green man, to even mythological heroism, everything is covered.

The Superbowl Spot, the extended trailer, and the 2nd trailer released today just goes to say how epic this movie will be. And since this epicness cannot be translated in still images, I have prepared, just for my dear readers..

* 15 Epic Smashing Avengers GIFs *

“Can you smell…what the Thor is cookin!”

And there seems to be some melodrama as well…

Iron Man vs. Thor

In the green corner..Prof.Bruce Banner is very angry

Have you ever been so angry, you smashed a rocket missile?

Hulk catches Iron Man in mid-air ..and everything’s just awesome!

Loki’s Caterpillar is a Decepticon on acid!

And finally, the epic shot. The Avengers are here!

SHIT JUST GOT REAL!

And that is it. If your face is still intact, go wash it now before it starts evaporating into thin air. And oh, for the naggy ones, I deliberately kept Phil Coulson, Nick Fury, and Loki out of this post. This one’s all about the Superheroes (and Superheroine). I simply cannot wait for the Avengers movie. This is going to be legen..wait for it..DARY!

The Walking Dead: Season 2 Episode 8 - Nebraska [Review]

And so the dead return.. in quite a smashing 2nd half season 2 opener - Nebraska. Picking up from right where we left in the mid-season finale, the Atlanta Grimes gang just executed the barn full of walkers, including Sophie. They had been looking for her for almost the entire 7 episodes, and that turned out to be futile. Rick comes to terms with the whole “hope” situation, and Shane steps into the dark side even further. And just when you thought that the walkers are the only threat, we are treated to a different level of invasion. It couldn’t have been a better opening for the Walking Dead. And here are a few points I want to discuss about the episode, all bullet pointed after the jump. SPOILER ALERT!

1. Sophie’s choice:

Rick realises of how they put themselves at risk in the hope that a young little girl would be able to survive in a zombie-infested wilderness. But how the hell did she end up in that barn? Well, that secret probably died with Otis, as neither Maggie nor Hershel know about it. I would have liked to see what actually happened to Sophia, in a sort of a recap episode, shot from her point of view – to explain why on earth she did that stupid act of leaving the spot.

2. Dealing with Loss:

And with Sophia shot dead, the Grimes and the Greenes seem to have lost all purpose, and hope. In a very fast turn of events we see how different people deal with loss differently. Everyone is in shock, no doubt. Sophia’s mum goes into the woods, while the girl in the farm has a mysterious shock coma. Rick is feeling out of control, and losing faith in his decision making capabilities, and Hershel has started drinking again.

3. The Western Connection:

Another something I noticed about this episode, was how the camera shots were playing like a typical western, with the long crane shots sweeping the farm lands. Hell they even had a scene at a Western bar with Hershel gulping down a large, and even Rick and Glenn joining in. But the celebrations didn’t stay so long.

4. Why Nebraska?

As Rick and Glenn go to retrieve Hershel from a nearby bar, two new survivors show up. And in true uninviting fashion, one of them seem to turn out just like another Shane (we’ll call him Shane2). Shane2 seems to be as equally ill mannered and pushy as his namesake. And his heavy set sidekick has poor code of hygiene. But they do narrate a nice little story about the possibility of Nebraska being a perfect place for habitation. But little did they know that Rick was a bit too anal about hygiene, and did not liked to be pushed either.

5. 15 minutes of fame

And so, since Shane2 kept on insisting that they see the farm, Rick pulls out his most self-aware state mode. And before we could even realise what the hell was going on, Rick goes dhiskow, once on Shane2, and twice on Shane2′s sidekick. He even comes back to shit him in the head. Dayumm! Hershel and Glenn keep looking in awe, as they witness the rise of the Grimes dynasty in the farm, and Rick as the next emperor. And that was probably, one of the finest 15 minutes of The Walking Dead I have seen. I said one of – definitely Top 10. C’mon, it’d have taken at least an episode for the whole bar situation to roll out if it was Season 2 – Half 1. But here, it is done and dusted within a matter of minutes. Bravo!

6. The rest of the group:

What has everybody else been dealing with? Hmm, Andrea and T-Dog go to burn the non-related walkers, and bury the loved ones. Dale goes all psychic about Shane, and he tells his conclusive results about Shane killing Otis, to Lori. Lori nags Daryl about something (I wasn’t paying attention to her), and Daryl snaps, and almost bitch slaps her by calling her “Olive Oyl”. I think the name is gonna stick now. She then hears about the Shane situation, and goes all mental – picks up a car, and drives somewhere. And boom, she’s all ready to create more trouble to poor Rick. She can’t see a walker who is 500m away, and hence, does a double back flip with the car. Glenn and Maggie are still cute together. And Carl, ermm.. he’s sent indoors.

7. In conclusion:

This was a very strong episode, and there are a few questions left out in the open now. Why did Rick shoot Shane2 and his sidekick in the head? Is it a step to ensure that dead people who are dead because of non-walkers, can become the undead somehow, if they are not shot in the head? Does that also mean, that the walker virus is contagious somehow – through air/water/whatever ? Hershel being witness to the whole bar shootout, makes him realise that Rick is a worthy leader of the group. He does realise the symbiotic relationship now, but how long will this friendship last? And I feel there is something going on about Lori-Shane still. Finally, I need Daryl to be more central in Episode 9. Please!

9E3K Rating: 4 head shots out of 5

The Orange British Academy Film Awards, which will be awarded to the best of cinema of 2011, by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts a.k.a. BAFTA, is going to be held on Sunday, 12th of Feb 2012. The ceremony begins at 9pm London Time. The big names of Hollywood and British cinema, will all be under one roof – The Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, London. And we will be live blogging the event. So, do join us in a few hours for all the BAFTA action, as it happens.

It is almost 9 pm here in London, and we are going live with this live blog of BAFTA 2012.

9:00pm

The show has started. Flashing images from the Red Carpet. Jean Dujardin tap-dancing, and George Clooney welcomes us to the BAFTAs. John Hurt goes “Proud to be in London tonight”. Bless him! Jonah Hill looks excited for Moneyball, and I have my fingers crossed for Octavia Spencer. And we are inside the Royal Opera House now.

9:02 pm

It’s been 50 years of James Bond. And paying tribute to that, is Sir Tom Jones singing – Thunderball. The Bond montage zooms through the many villains, Bond girls, sexy scenes, and the crocodile chase. And Tom Jones almost choked. Audience goes nuts.

Ladies and gentlemen, your host for the evening, Mr. Stephen Fry! YESS!!

Fry greets the Lords, Iron Ladies, and the scums! And throws an Olympic Games joke in there. 8 Out of the 10 top grossing movies of last year were made in Britain, and there’s a nod to Potter. Daniel Radcliffe smirks! Meryl Thatcher – Trophy Snatcher…haha..good one Mr. Fry.

And Fry insists that Brad Pitt blow a kiss to the TV audience. And Jonah Hill joins in.

Time for a recap of the movies in 2012. I want this edited mashup video. And hey, they included The Inbetweeners movie. And yes Viola, we all are clapping for you.

9:14 pm

Fry gives a twitter reference, to instruct the winners to keep the speeches short. And we have here to present the first award of the night: Cuba Gooding Jr., to present the Best Special Effects Award. And he mentions Whitney Houston (RIP). And another Michael Fassbender’s dick joke.

Nominations: War Horse, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow II, Tintin, Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, Hugo

Winner: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows II

And the missed shoe, gets a Cinderella reference, courtesy – Stephen Fry.

10:39 pm:

Best Actor: Presenter – Penelope Cruz

Winner: Jean Dujardin (The Artist). And with that Clooney gets pwned!

Time for the penultimate award of the night: Best Film: Presenters – Russel Crowe, Hugh Jackman. And they mock Fry’s pompous speech.

Nominations: Drive, The Descendants, The Help, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Artist

Winner: The Artist. It’s sort of a sweep this! Can we expect the same at the Oscars?

10:48 pm:

The final award of the night – The Academy Fellowship. Presented by: Max Von Sydow; this year, the Academy fellowship is awarded to legendary director, Martin Scorsese. Congratulatory messages from Christopher Lee, Robert De Niro.

The technical awards are being presented in a heavily edited video section. And seems like The Artist pretty much swept them too. Rango won the Best Animated Film, and Anil Kapoor presented the BAFTA for Best Non-English movie, and also took it on their behalf, but could not resist showing it off. Here is the complete list of winners. Thank you Mr.Stephen Fry, for being such an awesome host. Cheerio!

And that is it folks. Thank you for joining us on the BAFTA live blog.

We’ve got shed loads of Poster material for all you picture hungry folks. There’s Danny Trejo’s insanely grey face staring you down. There’s a new Bourne on the rise, Alien Nazis back from the Moon, a sneak peek at the new Dredd, and apparently Evil is spreading worldwide. Not to forget a faceless Clive Owens. Hit the jump to find out what we really mean.

The sequel to the slasher flick that had flying machetes overshadowing Lilo’s lesbian nun act – Machete Kills, is Robert Rodriguez’s B-action fantasy featuring Danny Trejo. And we aren’t complaining. The filming hasn’t started yet (supposedly, it is starting in April), but this simple yet effective promo poster sells the movie well with just two shades – Black and Red. Trejo looks bloody menacing, and we can’t wait him to slice the screen into two.

9E3K rating: 4 Chopping Slices Out of 5

Next up, are Nazis returning back to planet Earth, from the Dark side of the moon. As preposterous as that might sound, it might just turn out to be quite fun. Especially, that Sarah Palin-esque election campaign poster in the background is spot on hilarious. It is a mish-mash of alternate history timeline meets sci-fi, and in our book, that goes down as a must watch. If you are not blown away by the lead lady in that skimpy uniform, look… they’ve got space balloons.

9E3K Rating: 3.5 Kabooms Out of 5

Here’s a wiped out face of Clive Owen to scar you for life. Someone went a bit full throttle with the Agent Smith’s idea of – “What good is a phone call, if you can’t speak”. I think the poster sets the tone right, and the nightmare that it points out, is rightly projected in this single frame. Ever felt helpless in a nightmare, when you’re in the middle of something horrible, and you cannot wake up, or scream, or speak. I think that is the idea. Cannot wait for this!

9E3K Rating: 4 Eyeballs and a mouth Out Of 5

The Disney funded mega-budget scifi CGI movie – John Carter, which is already under a lot of discussion for overspending, seems to be more troubled, judging by the looks of this poster. Just look at that, and tell me, how can one say from this that this is a live action movie. I’ve got two words – False Advertising.

9E3K Rating: 1 Mars Bar Out of 5

You guys must’ve seen the trailer by now. And by all means, all my doubts for this movie, for not having Matt Damon reprise his role of Jason Bourne are washed away by the hardcore bad-assery of Mr.Renner. He’s the next big action star, or prolly, he already is one. There’s nothing special about the poster, but it still makes Renner stand out as a killing machine. Cannot wait for this movie to hit me in the face. And oh look… Edward Norton is in too bitches.

9E3K Rating: 4 Kapows Out of 5

We wind up this post with the final two posters;

Yes, seriously WTF? Yet another Resident Evil Movie – Resident Evil Retribution. Who pays for this shit!! Apparently, quite a lot of you guys did watch the last one.. in 3D. And seems like, someone was on some substance, and was released to unleash his fury in Photoshop.

9E3k Rating: Bitch please!

Finally, this is not a poster, just a sneak peek at Karl Urban as the remade version of Stallone – in Dredd. Enjoy!

Someone please release the trailer for Dredd soon.

The Craziest and Most Awesome Desktop Background Ever - Breakdancing Jesus [Wallpaper]

Think of a very crazy idea. Now think of something even crazier. Now combine with something absolutely awesome. If your answer is more awesome than a Breakdancing Jesus in the Vatican, in front of priests, then you win an annual supply of Jedi Force. If not, don’t worry. Now you can see this awesome wallpaper for yourself.

Created by artist Cosmo Sarson, this art is as epic as the title sounds – Breakdancing Jesus, and brilliantly brief and concise in concept, just like the artist’s about page.

Check out this interview of Sarson [Little London Observationist] which also features some more of his work.
