Doctor Who Series 7: Bells of Saint John [Thoughts And Spoilers]

Doctor Who - Bells of Saint John

It has been a long wait for my favourite Saturday evening entertainment. The mad man and his blue box returned to our TV screens along with the girl who is being introduced twice already. Clara Oswin Oswald (Jenna Louise Coleman) and the Doctor’s (Matt Smith) third outing together takes us on a roller coaster ride which spans across centuries – from 1207 AD to present day London featuring the Shard. The Bells of Saint John offered a whole bundle of entertainment and was a befitting series opener. Here are my assorted thoughts on the episode. Spoilers galore after the jump.

The Walking Dead S03E12 – Clear [TV Review]

The Walking Dead - AMC

In my review for the last episode of the Walking Dead, I had complained about this season to be more talk-centric. And that is mostly down to dialogues which are often ridiculously straight-forward, and which lack any sort of characterization. Also, the amount of times that happens, make it a chore to sit through these characters, just so that we can feel the rush once Michonne starts swinging her samurai sword, or Daryl starts using his crossbow.

This week’s episode – Clear, is by no means a heavy action packed one. It does have a mini-story arc attached to it, and although it is a bit disassociated from the bigger story, it doesn’t feel like a filler episode. Instead, it is one of the stronger episodes of TWD. After the jump, we discuss the episode, and there will be potential spoilers.

Black Mirror Series 2 Episode 2 – White Bear [TV Review]

Black Mirror - Charlie Brooker

Charlie Brooker’s Black Mirror has gained notoriety in presenting a bleak picture of our present and current surroundings, extrapolated to a view of a not-so-distant future. Series 2’s second episode “White Bear” poses quite a lot of questions, that not necessarily come with answers. It left me confused, and also worried about the human civilization. Brooker’s warped vision of our over-dependence on technology resonates through all of the previous episodes. But White Bear isn’t just that. Here are my thoughts on it.

The Walking Dead S03E11 – I Ain’t A Judas [TV Review]

The Walking Dead - AMC

The last episode of The Walking Dead I wrote about was episode 10 of Season 3 – Home. I think I am running a bit behind with this post, as I have three episodes to write about. Part of it is down to my laziness. But mostly, it is down to TWD being lazy as well. There hasn’t been much happening at all. Of course, there has been a few spectacular things, like the drama in Episode 12. But frankly, who gives a damn about drama in the Walking Dead. Shoot ’em bloody undead walkers and smash their heads to pulp, and that makes me happy. Ok, I am not completely being honest. I do like the drama too, but the last three episodes could have easily been summed up into two. It all seems like an extended foreplay to a highly anticipated big-action climax, which just seems to never arrive. My thoughts on episode 11 are after the jump. Spoilers from here on.
